Colour change wheel cleaners are all the rage, but unlike micropigs, vines, Duffy and Barney the Dinosaur, they work so well it'll forever be a (deep) purple reign.

As well as dissolving brake disc and pad particles in a blaze of purpleness, this version has a wide range of ingredients to act against road grime and to soften road tar a little, plus we use a low-odour thioglycolate so it doesn't stink as much as cheaper alternatives.

  • Full-strength formula with maximum active ingredients (not diluted like cheaper alternatives)
  • Based on the best-selling Ferrous Dueller with an enhanced wheel-specific formulation
  • Thickened for longer dwell time and better surface contact
  • Contains ingredients to remove road grime and help soften tar spots during cleaning
  • pH-neutral so suitable for a wide range of wheels and rims with visible colour-change results
  • Low odour thioglycolate for a more pleasant application experience than most other colour-change wheel cleaners
  1. Rinse wheels with a pressure washer to remove loose dirt
  2. Spray Deep Purple onto wheel face, spokes, barrel and rim
  3. Work in with a wheel brush if needed
  4. Leave for a few minutes to allow the colour change to occur
  5. Once contamination has turned deep purple, rinse thoroughly with water
  6. For remaining stubborn tar spots, use a dedicated tar remover like Tarmageddon

Why isn't the colour change as intense as Ferrous Dueller?
It's a broader formulation with additional cleaning agents, so the reaction is slightly less dramatic but more comprehensive.

Will it remove all tar spots?
It helps soften them, but stubborn or baked-on tar will need a dedicated tar remover.

Is it safe on all wheel finishes?
The pH-neutral formulation should be safe on all wheel types but care should always be taken, especially with anodised or bare metal finishes.

How long should I leave it on?
A few minutes until the colour change is complete; it will turn purple faster and darker than cheaper colour-change wheel cleaners.

Can I use this on paintwork?
It's formulated specifically for wheels but could be used on paintwork to remove ferrous fallout - however, we'd always use Ferrous Dueller for paintwork iron removal.

What makes it better than cheap colour-change cleaners?
Full-strength active ingredients, additional cleaning agents for superior results and a low-odour thioglycolate active ingredient.

It's meant to be low-odour but still smells quite yucky?
Whilst we use a low-odour raw material, the colour change reaction is sulphurous in nature and you can't have a colour change without the volcanic smell.

There is chalkiness/cloudiness/spotting/staining on my wheels after use, what is this?
Any chalkiness, cloudiness or staining seen on dark coloured rims after use is likely to be limescale or brake dust captured in a softened surface of the wheel; robust wheel finishes will not be affected, cheaper powdercoated refurbs will be higher risk. Use an acidic limescale/waterspot remover or mild abrasive to remove this embedded contamination.

I have used this product multiple times and brake dust and other contamination are still present, how can I fix this?
Some wheels with baked on contamination will not be completely cleaned with even a strong colour-change wheel cleaner. You may need to use a strong acid to remove baked on brake dust, strong solvents to remove ancient tar and even refurb the wheel if it is too badly corroded or contaminated. Always seal your wheels to make them easier to clean and less likely to suffer from baked on contamination; Wheel Sealer is our dedicated wheel sealant.
