The Slim Reaper is coming for you, deeper scratches and difficult defects: your time is up. This low profile harbinger of paint removal has a dense foam construction to minimise pad compression and therefore maximise cut.

  • Thinner profile boosts paint removal (less give means more cut)
  • Ideal for deeper defects and swirl removal
  • Can be used with rotary or DA polishers (better suited to rotaries in most cases, use Fibre Scyther for heavy cut with DA machines)

1. Select the correct pad for the polishing job in hand; you will most likely start with a fine or mid cut pad to gauge the softness of the paint before moving on to the Slim Reaper heavy cut foam pad; this will generally suit cutting of medium or hard paints
2. Make sure the polish is matched to the process, your technique and your aim; a cutting pad with a fine grade polish may just destroy itself due to heat overload and potentially damage the paint - you need fine to medium cut polishes with a correct cutting technique when using mid-cut pads (safe cutting is a combination technique, not a single product)
3. Use Stripp-Ex panel wipe to check the true cut achieved; change technique if the pad and polish is suitable - or simply get on with another set (or ten!)
4. After any cutting stages, you will usually refine the finish further - use Peak Finish with a light cut compound like Critical Finish
5. Don't get the pad too hot in use; too much heat suggests the wrong technique, pad or polish is being used (and the pad will be in danger of delamination)
6. Wash the pad after use with neat washing up liquid massaged into the face under a running tap; then rinse clean of suds and allow to air dry

Is it safe on soft paint?
This pad is a heavy cut pad for harder paints and deeper defects; it should be used with caution on soft paints. Always start with a gentle pad and polish combination then work your way up to mid cut, then heavy cut, products and techniques.

Will the pad haze the paint after cutting?
There is always a risk of cloudiness or marring after heavy cutting, so 'step down' after with a gentler pad and polish combination, e.g. a Peak Finish finishing pad with Critical Finish or Lime Prime.

Can Slim Reaper remove deep defects?
Yes, of course, assuming the right polish combination and polishing techniques. But some etching or deep scratches may require wet sanding, which is a technique that is often best left to experienced pros. A good rule of thumb is to only tackle scratches that can't be felt with a finger nail.

Is it suitable for DA machines as well as rotaries?
Whilst you can use Slim Reaper with a DA, it is best for a rotary. DAs are better suited to the Fibre Scyther orbital cutting pad.
