Can I use it on dyed aniline hides as well as modern coated leathers?
Yes, but always patch test first, especially on dark finishes. If colour/dye is being transferred to the cloth - rather than brown grime - stop immediately as the leather may be permanently damaged if too much dye is removed (it would then need to be recoated).
My steering wheel has gone sticky, should I clean it?
Sticky leather can sometimes be a sign of an unstable clearcoat rather than grime - if the wheel is shiny or sticky all over, it is likely to be a degraded original finish and if you clean it with a strong product you could remove the clearcoat entirely (a yellow/brown gummy mess may result, requiring repair/recoating). If in doubt, clean sticky leather with a mild soap/shampoo and water solution only, not a strong leather cleaner.
Do I need a conditioner, leather food, leather balm or sealant after?
Avoid conditioners, balms and leather feeds unless you like the shiny finish; the oils may absorb dirt rather than repelling it. Choose a 'dry' sealant like Fabricadabra instead. This will repel dirt rather than absorbing it and give a natural finish to your leather, rather than an artificial shine.
Is it safe on vinyl as well as leather?
Yes, it’s formulated for both. Vinyl tends to be more robust than leather, too.
Can I use it on microsuede/suede/alcantara?
Yes, Pimp My Hide is a good cleaner for suede and microsuede, but always test on an inconspicuous area first in case the dye is unstable - and avoid overspray droplets.
Will it leave a shine?
No, it leaves a natural, clean finish ready for sealing/protecting.
