Turns good paint into great paint. A waffle foam finishing pad to refine the mediocre into the magnificent. Small 'spot' size great for isolated defect removal, or for polishing up to crease lines or in space-limited areas.

  • Compact size for precision work, spot removal of defects or for accessing difficult to reach areas
  • Waffle foam for less splatter and cooler running temps
  • Ultra-soft foam gives a flawless final finish
  • Works brilliantly with low to medium cut polishes, or glazes

1. Select the correct pad for the polishing job in hand; you will most likely start with a fine or mid cut pad to gauge the softness of the paint; the Peak Finish pad is ideal for this initial polishing step, for cutting and defect removal of soft paint, or for final finishing and refinement of harder paint
2. Spot pads are great for isolated defect removal, for accessing hard to reach areas or for polishing up to crease lines in bodywork - but they can run hotter, so watch those temps!
3. Make sure the polish or glaze is matched to the process, your technique and your aim; a finishing pad could cut well with a medium grade polish on soft paint but it may just destroy itself on hard paint and fail to cut at all
4. Use Stripp-Ex panel wipe to check the true cut achieved; step up the cut by using a more aggressive polish (or ultimately a more aggressive medium or heavy cut pad) if the paint can take it - there's no point wasting time tickling the clearcoat
5. After any cutting stages, you can usually refine the finish further - use Peak Finish with a light cut compound like Critical Finish
6. Don't get the pad too hot in use; too much heat suggests the wrong technique, pad or polish is being used (and the pad will be in danger of delamination)
7. Wash the pad after use with neat washing up liquid massaged into the face under a running tap; then rinse clean of suds and allow to air dry

Do I need a different backing plate with spot pads?
You will need a smaller 75-90mm backing plate to use with these smaller spot pads. Check that you have one with your machine, or buy one specifically. Remember orbitals and rotaries use different backing plates - one won't tend to fit the other.

Can I apply sealants or waxes with it?
Whilst a fine cut finishing pad would be the choice for sealant or wax application, there is little value in applying waxes or sealants by machine - you need coverage not cut - so just apply them by hand using a foam finger mitt (WaxApp) applicator.

Is it suitable for DA machines as well as rotaries?
Yes, Peak Finish waffle pads are ideal for DA polishers and rotaries. All machines that have the correct style and size backing plates, in fact.

Will it cut at all?
It can do with the right polish combination and polishing techniques on softer paints, but there are better pads available for cutting... Peak Finish is really for finishing.

Why the waffle design to the pad face?
Waffle pads tend to run cooler in operation, allow a better spread of polish across the pad face and even prevent polish splatter or 'sling'. The differences aren't vast but people do like waffle pads for a reason. Sometimes it comes down to what simply feels right. The waffle design is a bit of a classic that has stood the test of time and remains popular to this day; it is just as revered by enthusiasts as relied on by bodyshop pros.
