Does it work on plastic windows as well as glass?
Yes, it will bond to both clear plastic as well as glass, so can be suitable for motorbike/motorboat fairings etc.
Can I apply it over old sealants?
For best results you will need to completely decontaminate the surface first for proper bonding and to eliminate the chance of smearing. A quick clean with a glass cleaner may work, but often you will need to use clay, polish or strong solvents.
Is it safe on tinted or coated glass?
Yes, Max Pane is fine for tinted/coated glass; a water-based formula means no strong solvents.
How often should I reapply?
Typically every 3 to 4+ months, or when water refuses to sheet or bead.
I am seeing smearing, streaks or watermarks from this product, what is the likely cause?
You must buff the product fully after application to minimise high spots and keeping it from getting wet for 24 hours will reduce the chances of streaking or running. Smearing is down to inconsistent application and interference with existing sealants, coatings or contaminants on the glass that are patchy at a microscopic level. That is why deep cleaning the glass can be so critical and why applying to windscreens can be a gamble.
How do I remove misapplied Max Pane or old sealants?
Freshly applied product can often be removed with a strong solvent like Dodo Juice Stripp-Ex, but mature coatings or those that have been allowed to cure over days or weeks in high spots or watermarks can be difficult to remove. Use a glass cleaner liquid or spray, followed by clay bar and then some form of polish. In extreme cases, a professional may need to polish the glass with a fibre pad on a machine polisher with specialist glass cutting paste (not for amateur use).
